Dr. Malik, grew up in India. He is board certified by the American Board of internal Medicine in the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. Dr. Malik went straight to medical school after high school and earned the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1988 from the M.S. University of Baroda. After a four-year residency in surgery he became
board certified in General Surgery (India) in 1992.

He then completed his residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998.  After practicing in Michigan for nearly 4 years he joined the practice in 2002.
